Q. What is aeroponics?

A. Aeroponics is a method of growing plants without the need for soil or much sunlight. All the essential nutrients that plants require to live and thrive are fed directly to the plants roots and coupled with the artificial light, the plants grow 5 times faster than in soil. Aeroponics is a form of hydroponics where the roots of the plant are suspended in air rather than water, allowing for roots to be far more oxygenated. Q. How big is the AeroGarden?

A. About the same size as a breadbox. It is small enough to fit under most cabinets and cupboards. The Aerogarden is 16 inches long by 10 1/2 inches wide by 15 1/2 inches high with the lights at the lowest setting, and 21 inches when retracted to maximum height.

Q. What can I grow?

A. Gourmet herbs, chilli peppers, salad greens, cherry tomatoes, pretty much anything you want. With the Master Gardener seed kit you can grow your own seeds.

Q. How much time do I need to spend maintaining my AeroGarden?

A. Roughly about 10 minutes a month. The indicator in the AeroGarden will tell you when to top up the water and add in a nutrient tablet or two.

Q. How long can the AeroGarden be left unattended?

A. Once the seed has been planted, roughly about two weeks. Then you'll need to top up the water and nutrients.

Q. What kind of lightbulbs does it use?

A. The lighting system consists of full-spectrum flourescent tubes, designed to give plants the maximum growth needed from sunlight.
